I had the enormous blessing of traveling with Dan Elliott and Skywordsports to Nicaragua a few years ago.  I have been on many missions trips but that trip to Nicaragua was different. I was able to work with Dan and help him as he hosted a basketball sports camp in the remote town of Pueblo Nuevo.  

 

Dan used the universal language of sports to get right into the hearts and lives of the people.  It all seemed so effortless for him as I watched him on mission to not just put on a basketball camp but to engage everyone he met.  Dan has an amazing ability to make friends and bond with the people almost immediately.  He was calling people by their name within minutes of meeting them and it seemed as if he never forgot anyone.  

 

The most amazing part of the trip was watching the crowd grow larger with each day.  Dan used Skywordsports as such an amazing tool to expose hundreds and hundreds of people to the Gospel.  At the end of the week a youth rally was held where we had invited everyone who had been at the basketball camp to attend.  It seemed liked the entire town showed up and dozens and dozens of people came to know Christ as their savior.   

If anyone or any church is looking for a missions trip that is more than just erecting a building or sightseeing then I would highly recommend partnering with Skywordsports Ministry.  You will be able to see the Gospel in action and watch as your interaction using such a simple game will open up God conversations and leave an eternal difference in the lives of so many people.

It has been the privilege of High Street Church to partner with Dan Elliott and Skywordsports Ministry for several years now as he has ministered to youth in many countries.  To be able to see first hand how he has been able to reach the young people in Nicaragua, Thailand and the Philippines with the gospel through his sports ministry has been amazing.  I had the privilege to meet a young lady in Nicaragua who told me that she accepted Christ when Dan brought Skywordsports Ministry there and she now is in Bible College and plans to be a missionary in Africa.
